When French designer Paul Poiret saw her ‘hobble’ off the plane he was inspired by the way she moved and designed the very first ‘hobble’ skirt which remained popular for many years after. In fact many women even wore knee-length corsets underneath their skirts just simply to create this ‘hobble’ effect which obviously made walking properly a very difficult task and the fashion soon faded.
